Evening all to start with just spent the day with loo-knee and elite pete trying to diagnose why my idle is lumpy, the day went like this:
1: changed EGR valve, made no difference
2:blocked off ICV,made no difference
3:removed plenum and inlet manifold to check all seals in place(all present)but found gearbox breather pushed onto top breather bridge and the proper breather just left loose so rectified them, but still no difference.
4:replaced fuel rail,still no difference.
5:Tried a different DIS pack and leads and still no difference.
6:Put new spark plugs in,still no difference.
7:Changed MAF sensor still no diffrence
By this time Loo-knee and Elite Pete were baffled as to what the cause was and we decide to call it a day,I then drove 50 motorway miles home but at the 1st set of traffic lights I noticed a clunking sound when setting off,I was wondering if anybody else has come across this clunking sound when setting off and what the problem could be,I have spoke to loo-knee regarding this and he believes the gearbox breather attached to the top bridge has masked the fact the gearbox is in need of topping up,and could the fact the gearbox be low on oil cause the lumpy idle.Any questions I will try and answer to the best of my ability but Im no mechanic(plasterer). Thanks in advance Rob
