Engine Number/Type?

Hi all

Could anyone please tell me where to find out where to find what type of engine is fitted.  ie. X25XE, Y26SE etc.

I have looked on the logbook and on the plate but can't see anything.

Thanks all, Car is a 2000/W 2.5 V6.  Cheers

and engine number is on log book, starts with 08_ _ _ _ _ _ :y

I did find engine number, but could'nt find the X25XE bit that's all.
