Quick Fan Questions. Please.
« on: 03 May 2009, 23:25:00 »

1.  JUST above the front passengers legs there is some sort of fan. Initially it wasn't protected and nearly took my fingers off when i went poking around. I've now hidden it up with the use of a flexible suspended ceiling tile believe it or not BUT is it supposed to be vented into the footwell and what is it.

2.  If i remove the pollen filter and look behind it I THINK I can see a large fan of some sort in a funnel going off in to the bulkhead.
What is this fan please.

I tell you why i ask.  I've always had heating problems and was wondering if either of the above two chappies are connected with the lack of heat. BOTH matrix pipes running through the bulkhead get hot BUT in my ignorance I'm convinced that something isn't "blowing" correct for the heat to be forced in to the car.

Any help/advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Think you mean the heater/aircon fan.  Should be bolted in 3 torx screws.

Is that the fan literally JUST above the front passengers ankles. I swear it used to make a heck of a noise when it was blowing..in a good way. The protective padding was missing, hense when i stuck my fingers up to investigate, blades of some sort smacked my fingers..guess I was lucky..despite the blood.

So should the air it produces, blow through the matrix to bring warn air in. The air con seems to be ok..just don't get the heat.

Shouldn't be just above passengers ankles - should sit up behind glove box.  Think yours has "fallen off" mate ;)

he he he he....No..You are right..there is a huge fan above glove box, behind pollen filter...BUT,,there is something that "revolves" just above the passengers ankles. As mentioned, I know this because when i got the car, the protective cover (under) was missing. On hearing a loud "fan" noise I stupidly used my fingers to feel where it was coming from and got caught by something revolving, I'm sure they were small blades of some sort.

What on earth was the object ?
