No Power but no engine management light
« on: 18 May 2009, 21:07:47 »

Can anyone please help just picked up an Omega 2.2  auto on a 02 plate car looks great and everything works as it should HOWEVER there seems to be no power. First i thought it was the gearbox as it didnt seem to kickdown like other autos i have driven but after further use it seems just to be generally lacking power from the start and at the top end. will build up speed slowly and then max around 90 mph. no warning lights and had it to Vauxhall and no error codes was present. have it booked at a local garage on Thursday but open to any suggestions which i could try before hand

bugger.

OK, slap it in 1, does it go better then (to 35mph anyway)?

Does the EML come on with ignition, and stay on until engine start (ie, scumbag hasn't wired EML to another light, or removed bulb!).

Hi Mate,

Light comes on and then goes off when engine has started. Just the same really driving in first (just been out to double check) although as it is held in gear the top end is alittle faster. but not much on the start. no warning lights or error light on at all when engine started and driving.

Hello,

Garaged just called told me  that the engine management light has been disabled (bulb) great isnt it - i was looking at the service light!

cant understand why Vauxhall didnt tell me that...obviously didnt even bother. The garage has pulled of 8 codes in particular accelerator position, sensor is ok but voltage not getting through...he is still investigating.....not sounding very good is it

Car currently at garage. Engine management light bulb has been removed!! i was looking at the service light - Typical!!

Anyway 8 codes have come off not sure why Vauxhall didnt spot this obviously they didnt even look at it.

Anyway major one that the garage is looking at is the throttle voltage. sensor is ok and is checking the voltage. hope it isnt the ECU :-(

any further posts or anything would be much appriciated - will keep you updated on the final verdict
