Leaky ariel - How to remove?
« on: 22 May 2009, 22:17:04 »

Hi folks,
I have noticed that rain water seems to be leaking in through the phone ariel just above where the high level brake light sits...its quite annoying (for anyone sitting in the back ;D at least)

Does anyone know how to remove this ariel? Its not covered in the haynes manual and i dont want to cause damage trying to remove it incorrectly. my car is a saloon btw.
Thanks :y

Hi

I have not removed an aerial from an Omega, but my Senator had one fitted.
When I removed it from my Senator roof, I did the following:-
1.  Remove trim/brakelight from above rear screen.
2.  Carefully lower the roof headlining (on Senatir it was fixed to card).
3.  Remove wiring connector block from aerial.
4.  The aerial should be held in place by a nut, undo nut.
If nut loosens and aerial starts spinning get an assistant to hold aerial from outside.
Mine came off easily from inside with no problems.
5.  Decide what you are going to do with the hole in your roof ?/

Hope this helps, I filled my Senator aerial hole. Alternatives are a grommet, or perhaps better still another aerial that does not leak...

Good luck

Colin
