PAS doesn't work (most of the time)
« on: 19 May 2009, 22:41:09 »

3ltr mv6 im buying off a mate.

He says the power steering doesn't work, but i've since found out it does work occasionally for short bursts. Someone has told him that the pump might be fine but infact its just some o-ring or something thats gone?

Anyone shed any light of this for me, its the first thing I want to fix (bloody heavy steering on these omegas!).

as andy b says, knackered pump. Try a scrappy, or one of the breakers on this site

What cars with what engines share the same pump as my omega 3l? I assume the 2.5 as well, but any other car/engines? I ask because none of the scrappies locally have any omegas in it would seem!

Might be worth checking that the speedo and cruise control don't pack up at the same time. Could be ABS ECU?

Speedo is fine and there is no cruise control, so hopefully its just the pump right?

Seems to work when your in gear and moving with the revs over 2kish, at points its perfect, other times its clearly on but a bit weak. Defiantly sound like a packed up pump gents?

Yep. My money is on the pump if it's RPM related and the speedo is OK.

A new one comes at a price, but I believe is slighty different so you'd need the new style pipework too!
