Cam Belt replacement on 2.2i
« on: 30 May 2009, 19:57:52 »

Hi all,

Think my cambelt is due. I am a pretty good learner when it comes to DIY mechcanics. Do you think its a job which can be done at home?  I have looked at the shop on here and see that the dvd is sold out. Does anyone have a copy I could have? Or is there a guide on here as I cant seem to find it.

Any special tools required?

I believe all the 4 pot cars are  pretty much of a muchness, wheter 2.0 or 2.2
My wife's 16v 1600 Astra (which I believe is also similar) couldn't have been easier.
You'll need a cam locking tool to hold the 2 cam sprockets  :y  :y

yep as above need a cam locking tool, other than that not a bad job, plenty of room to work, no other special tools required, but you need to make sure all timming marks align correctly, or else it will turn into an expensive job, would also change water pump at the same time
