The trip computer in our Elite shows a greater range as the fuel level drops, can anyone tell me why & how to fix this fault.
This is quite normal. The range shown depends on how the car has been driven for the past 7 and 21 miles, how much fuel is in the tank, and the fuel quality.
If I fill my 2.5 V6 CDX during a long motorway journey, the range will be about 470 miles. Depending on how I drive for the next 100 miles that figure can go as high as 640 miles, or will drop rapidly.
If you give it welly up a long hill the numbers will drop rapdly, but will climb again as you go down the other side.
The important point is, the numbers should drop to zero as the tank becomes empty. I did once try mine out to see how many miles it would run after reaching '0 miles', and it did les than two miles before running out, so the system works!

In this case, its running the wrong program config, so will produce weird errors.
Why? It can only calculate expected range based on the present fuel level and the consumption over the past few miles. Ergo 'Range' prediction can go up or down.

Its the consumption bit that it gets horribly wrong, and it confuses the poor thing.
I only just got around to reprogramming mine (I swapped mine with Hotel21 a few weeks ago to prove a fault), my range was creeping up to 1300 miles from a tank. Not bad for a 3.0l auto
