Vacuum tank
« on: 05 June 2009, 22:34:55 »

Hi, as above, what is the need for the vaccum tank in the system. I only ask as 1 of the connectors on mine broke so I have just connected the lines in a loop without it for now. What problems, if any will it cause.
Thanks      Al

multiram failure. loss of power, increased fuel economy. have a look in maintenance for a diag if you need it. vac tank from breakers on here, they will probably be along shortly i should think....

I connected the two ends of the pipes so the system is otherwise complete. Multiramworks but I admit it seems a bit sluggish to open.
So I definately need a new one? is running without it not a good idea then?

As soon as you open the throttle you have no vacuum, so the multirams stop working. The purpose of the tank is to store the vacuum (if you can store nothing?!?!?) while the throttle is open so the multirams can operate while the engine is under leavy load.

Many thanks guys. Will try and get a wanted ad put up for one.
I checked the car and if you open the throttle quickly the engine splutters and stagnates and the multi-ram doesn't open, if you rev it slowly it works fine and the engine revs freely.
Thanks again,    Al

Anybody know if the vaccum tank on the 'bagpipes' and the one under the scuttle are both the same?
