if the airbag light is on its a fail as there is a fault on the saftey system but its up to the tester at the end of the day how his been trained and how he feels about his testers lience that is a coment froma good mate of mine who is a mot tester

An air bag light on is NOT a failure. Infact, if you look here ... http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_510.htm you'll find
In itself a seat belt that has had the pre-tensioner activated is NOT a reason for rejection :y
