Door checkstrap welding?
« on: 25 June 2009, 09:26:00 »

I am finding that the drivers door checkstrap mounting point on the car has started to seperate from the bodywork.
The checkstrap assembly + bushes were replaced and now work well but the weight of the door and some peoples heavyhanded door opening seems to be gradually pulling the welded securing plate off of the body.
Any body had this problem and fixed it before the fixing point comes away?

You can drill and pop Rivett If you don't want to weld. I think this is quite common because of the heafty doors.  :-/

A fairly common problem. I had exactly the same thing happen and had mine rewelded at one of the OOF meets by Mark DTM, although might have to be done again as the generator couldn't supply quite enough power to the welder. ::)
