LPG. Is it recommended extra lubrication for valves?
« on: 21 October 2011, 02:45:11 »

Hi all!

It's said that there isn't enough lube oil at valves at time of lpg combustion. Burning of gas is "dry" that's why extra lubrication is needed. Will (could) be damaged the smooth surface of valve if that isn't?

Any opinion welcome

What's said is true :y However, the Omega engines (and all Vx of the era AFAIK) already have hardened valve seats so don't suffer the Valve Seat Recession other cars do (Ford and Toyota as 2 main examples)

Agree with above. Most of the others manufacturers ideally should have a "Flashlube" kit (or equivalent) fitted but reckon the Vauxhalls are ok without. Vauxhall did do a range of Dualfuel Vectras & Astras.....all ok!

So did Ford ;) ;) ;) But they fitted different heads to them :y :y

TBH, it's generally Ford, anything Japanese and French stuff that needs it. Of course, if you are getting it for free then you may as well have it :y It won't do any harm :y

I believe so... Fairly sure they used the same heads right through the production. Someone will hopefully confirm :y
