Hi all

I put my 2.2 facelift in for service tuesday and rocker cover gasket was replaced, then when put back together again won't start, mechanic read for faults but showing none. but still no spark from coilpack. any ideas?

How does he know it's not sparking - has he used Tech2 and test plugs?

the guy testing it is auto electrician he tells me they have tested pack. could coil pack be problem, it was renewed last year.

Today we changed cam sensor without any joy and changing crank sensor just now, is there anything else could be causing there to be no spark. the engine has been turned over whilst being read for faults and still shows nothing, I'm getting desperate now and would appreciate any help.!!

Lack of spark won't throw a code on non DBW V6's

How do you know there's no spark?

is the coil pack plugged in 

I did the cam cover gasket DIY... cam sensor needs to be unplugged, thats it, nothing else should be affected.

Your 'mechanic' should not charge you for any of this working getting it started again, its his stuff up!

fuel getting pumped when turning over but not firing up mechanic checked and told me there is no spark,
any idea what it might be James that could be causing this problem as car usualy starts first kick whether it,s the spark or not. thanks for interest so far. cheers

Thanks tunnie I,ll get him to double check coilpack in the morning, could it possibly be a set of dud plugs  or something simple. :question :question

apart from the crank sensor, he would also have to remove the coil pack obviously. These can be awkward to remove going by my v6 ones, leading to some hamfisted attempts with screw drivers to lever and dig it out, and when it does come out it can fly out, basickly would think they are easy to damage when removed. Examine the pack for cracks and damage along with the wiring and plug. Your should get 12v from one of the wires to it, its black wire on the v6 iirc, if that helps. You could try the old bike trick and remove the plugs, fit them in the coil pack and carefully ground out the plugs on a metal part of the engine and see if they spark. Mind you dont get a jolt though. Or if another member near you could lend you his known good one even better. Hope helps somehow.
