Climate control either max hot or max cold
« on: 26 June 2009, 22:23:24 »

Hi,

the climate control system in my 2000 omega currently has two settings: from 16-->Hi it gives sauna temperatures, and on LO it gives max AC. There's nothing in between. My outside tempsensor is not working, but this problem arose a few weeks after the outside temp sensor died. I've tried to find answers in other threads, but no luck.

A few weeks back I had the problem with water leaking in to the passenger side footwell due to draining not working. It was really wet, but managed to drain it up. Related?

Any suggestions?

possibly. Could it also be related to the outside temp. sensor? For instance hi is flat out heat and lo is flat out ac, a simple thing for cc to work out . The climate controle will need a reference from the outside air temp to calculate what temp to send to the cabin for any temp you set in between, i would have thought anyway.

For instance if you jump in the car on a hot day with cc set to 22 you will get cold air. At 22 on a cold day you will get hot air.... This is decided by the outside temp sensor afaik. Also tech 2 with one oe the members on here will help diagnose for sure.

I'll change the outside temp sensor anyway and see if it works, but I doubt that's the problem. A diagnosis would indeed be helpful, but considering I live in Norway the drive would perhaps be a bit long, and cold. Or warm.

I saw someone talk about an electrical plug on the passenger side that might have some corroded connectors and cause problems with the climate control, but I was unable to find it. Anyone have any tips to where it is?

I would be almost 100% positive that your issue is caused by outside temp not working. Change the sensor which is clipped to the bumper in the centre on facelifts. You can also check the multiplug connector for corroded pins. This is located behind the bumper and in front of the wheel on the near side ( or your offside since you are in Norway. I am assuming you drive on the right over there!)

It will be a failed temp sensor somewhere, as you know outside one has failed, go for that first
