Cam belt/water pump change
« on: 18 July 2009, 14:03:29 »

Is the Gates cambelt kit I've seen available on ebay ok to use and where should I go for the water pump?

Secondly, are there any of you chaps who normally carry out this work for members available to come to Kent (20 mins from Dartford Tunnel)? A few years ago I would have done this myself but just a bit past it now! Thanks in advance.

I have researched this too, the OOF forums recommend kits from Gates or Contitech for cam belts changes so you will be ok with the Gates kit, they are offered by several Vauxhall part stores on the net so search on the title, ebay is not always the cheapest.  :y

Maybe drop Darth Heir of a Scot (or whatever he is calling himself now) or Elite Pete a PM. Good guys who know what they are doing at a reasonable price and usually willing to travel.  :y

I got mine from buypartsby. Good belt kit and tensioners. The water pump was a Quinton Hazel job not a VX one. It works fine BUT when I assembled it fortunately I checked that the impellor was free to move. It wasn't as the standard VX bolts catch the exterior impellor webs on the pump body. (use shorter bolts or saw yours down or spacers.)
