faulty egr can cause....?
« on: 20 July 2009, 08:15:21 »

Ok guys need a little help and advice.
I've recently had headgasket done, valve gasket also. The car was loosing oil on the back top side of the engine near egr valve.
When they did it I didn't check and now after some 900 miles there is again oil on the same place.
I know my egr walve seems not to function.
Can this be the cause of the blowing gaskets or they simply didn't do the job as they should have done?

Probably cam cover gasket, check for oil in the plug wells too and teh breather pipes, quite simple and easy to change on the 2.2, check the maintance guides section.

I don't think breather pipes have anything to do with this??? They are on the left side of the engine and the oil is on the back. But I may have written the wrong thing, cause I'm not sure how it is called correctly.
What's the name of the top gasket on the engine? Cam cover or valve cover gasket??? ( Sorry my english is rather good but this is a techical expression).
