Strange problem
« on: 26 July 2009, 10:58:38 »

Strange 1 this …I changed the auxiliary belt last Saturday and since then the idle seems lumpy (sometimes)
However
It always idles at the correct speed
If u turn it of and back on it idles perfectly (not lumpy)
The material on the back of the belt looks like its been Skimed off ????so much so the alternator looks quite fury from the fibres striped from it
If I steer left or right I can hear the belt squealing
And the belt tensioner wheel does a fair bit of bobbling about when it is idling lumpy but as said if I turn it of and back on again it idles perfectly for about a minute or so seems to happen more so when warm
I have checked the path of the belt to make sure its fitted correctly and it is the tension also seems fine
Both idler wheels power steering pump water pump and alternator are spinning freely when the belt is off
Any ideas
