Re-assemble in reverse order help please
« on: 29 July 2009, 23:31:42 »

Hi Guys

I'm sure some of you are fed up with me by now.  :-/

Hope someone can advise me.

I've stripped out my gearbox and clutch between showers (monsoons ::)) today, due to leaking clutch fluid.

Anyway as I came to replace the slave cylinder, I found it really loose, in fact all 3 bolts were a good few turns loose and the unit was flopping about.

Now either it has been changed in the past and not tightened or it has worked loose itself.

I'm not that confident about tightening the new unit to tight, with it being ali gearbox, so is there something like loctite or similar that will grip the bolt in place, without overdoing it. I've notice a none setting substance on for instance brake caliper bolts etc.

I dont want to be fitting spring washers that shouldn't be there ::)

Thanks for your patiance and advice, guys it really is appreciated. :y

Torque them up with a wee tad of locktite IMHO

Haynes book of lies says  :

Release cylinder mounting bolts   22 Nm

Shouldn't do any damage if you don't exceed that :)
