Auto box problem !! - Update
« on: 29 July 2009, 19:48:28 »

Removed both auto box sumps, Dexron 3 still very red, rear big sump no problem things were very clean, front small sump had the remains of a plastic 'thrust washer' in three parts - O'dear. Replaced the 2-3 soleiod supplied by 'unlucky alf' (many thanks), cleaned everything put it back together and filled with new Dexron 3. Part of the day was taken by replacing both front wishbones, so put the car back on the ground to screw-up the front bush bolts, gears worked !!
Now driven 18 miles, auto is smoother than ever ie no 'flare' between any gears, what will happen next, big bang  :-/ ?

Hi
My thrust washer dropped out about 4 years & 20k miles ago and so far so good.  But it must have been there for a reason so I am waiting for eventual failure.

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.

the thrust washer issue is mainly concerned with the 3-4 shift. i dare say if you drive it gently you can easily make it last a fair while, which probably rules out a fair proportion of this forum.most notably "the boy, jamesv6cdx"etc etc ;D ;D
