Can you see any water leaking from arround the water pump?

Find a clean dry area, Top up the water, take it for a blast, park in on the dry area, pop up the bonnet and look for steam and leaks.

Then with a piece of chalk, mark the cemtre on the ground, where the 2 front wheels are, and even where the bumper front is if possible.

Then check under the car for leaks, if there are any drips and you cant suss out where they are, then measure the disstance from left or right, and from the front.  Top back up with water and then nip to a an exhaust garage and tell them you want a free exhaust check, then just nip under the car and check for your water leak the exhaust.  :-X :y :y

was your hbv genuine?
Either way its worth checking it for leaks again.  At the loss rate you described it should be easy to spot where the water is escaping.
If the hbv is not leaking then your into the v of the engine most likely, due to the angle of the engine and position of the hbv most leaks run out the back of the v area and drip off the gear box bell housing, unless its water pump related on the front  of the block on centre aux belt pulley.
