Eternalcar exhaust fouling suspension
« on: 04 September 2009, 21:15:00 »

Today I noticed a clunking from under the rear of my car.  I found that my new etarnalcar exhaust is bumping into the nearside rear anti roll bar drop link mounting (see pic).  I didn't notice that it was so close when I fitted the exhaust recently (you don't tend to notice these things when you are lying om your back on the drive with the car 6" above your nose and your feet getting wet in the rain).

My car is a 3.2 estate and I wonder whether I have been sent the saloon exhauset.  All parts did appear to be correctly labelled although I didnt check the old exhaust against the new one for similar size & fit.

Your best bet is to go into your local exhaust centre and ask if they can adjust it slightly which is probably all it needs, they will probably do it for a drink and will save you all the hassle :y.

Hi,
I am sure that you will find that the exhaust sys on the 3.2 is slightly different to the 3.0  EPC shows different centre system for each, as well as a difference in Estate and Saloon systems.

When I was contemplating on a replacement system for my estate, I queried with Eternal car why they do not list for 3.2(or they didn't about 18 months ago) and they replied and apologised, that they do not do a system for a 3.2 or 2.6 Omegas

I also enquired with Bosal and another one I can't remember name of. The each confirmed that (at that time) they didn't do a system for the 3.2 either.

When I went to order from Vx, there was such confusion over the difference between 3.0 and 3.2 and that it was ex Plod, that they had to put car up on ramp and and phone Luton with numbers on original units to get the right version.

I went for genuine Vx system but it was a poor fit, no where as good as original and is more throaty sounding than the original when it had a hole in the back box. I queried if I did in fact have the correct system, they showed me EPC print out confirming I had correct version.

Although mine have Vx name and numbers stamped in them, I don't thing Vx make them any more. If what you have works OK otherwise, if I were you I would try and adjust the pipes a bit if you can. You won't be any better off with Vx.
