Autobahnstormers membership pack turned up this morning. Excellent service, I didn't post the application until Monday morning.

Turns out that my nearest Vauxhall dealer isn't a Trade Card  branch so the VX website is a bit misleading.

Got myself to the next branch and ordered a VX battery. Nice price but not a stock item so got to go back to pick it up on Saturday.

Is the procedure for battery replacement the same on a 2003 2.6 V6 as on a 1994 2.5 V6 ?
 ie
1. Turn on ignition
2. Wait for most of the dash lights to go out
3. Disconnect battery within 30 seconds or so
4. Connect new battery
5. Press window & sunroof switches until you hear each relay click

Nearly
You've onlly got 15 secs for the battery.
Windows reset is OK but sunroof ... you turn the dial to each major position in turn and push & hold the dial till all movement has stopped.

Frustrating day today. Went to GSF first to pick up new radiator for wifes Golf. Got into Omega (with new Golf radiator) turned key & engine struggled to turn over. Second attempt & engine burst into life so with a sigh of relief decided to go straight to VX & pick up battery that I ordered on Thursday.

Arrived at VX dealer to be told that there is a stock take being held in Luton so the battery won't be in till Wednesday. Bit of a nuisance because I was planning to drive to Scotland when the M5 reopens on Tuesday  >:(

I wonder if the Unipart GBA3075 battery innocently resting in my wifes Golf would do the job?  :-?

I have spent the last two hours on Google and have established that 075 batteries are recommended by lots of manufacturers for the Omega but I can't find any tables for Unipart batteries  :(

I would put the battery off the Golf in the boot with a set of jump leads just incase your battery lets you down ;)

The battery in the Omega is reading 10.5v so it has one dead cell. My fear is that if I keep driving it something is going to go pop.

I don't really want to spray the engine bay with sulphuric acid  :(

The battery in the wifes car looks like the one in the Omega and I would be happy to borrow it if I could find something that showed the Unipart recommendation for a V6 Omega.

Swap it over, it will be fine for just a few days!

Just check that the terminals are the correct way around first! As some are +/- and others are -/+! :y

I put the Unipart battery in yesterday. It is about an inch shorter than the OE battery.

Wife was particularly taken by the 'little overcoat' on the Omega battery ;D

Omega bursts into life the way it should now :y

Home again after a short holiday.

1500 miles over the last 10 days, battery borrowed from wifes Golf worked perfectly  :)

Windows worked fine after resetting by pressing 'up' on each windows switch until the relay clicked. Sunroof worked fine without being reset.

According to my intrepid local vx dealer who I have to say is pretty good with being helpful etc with anything I buy or ask about , did quote me a 66amp hr battery is now the listed size for the 3.0 V6  I have no reason to not trust his info so bought the 66amp for mine been fine ever since..

I believe the 85ah listing for the 3.2 is wrong too. I recall someone buying one and it's a huge thing that won't fit. IIRC, my 3.2 has a 65ah job in it. Pays to check the dimensions of a battery before buying IMHO.

I've just fitted the Vauxhall 95amp battery to sooty, its massive but it fits OK, the passenger side front now looks to be sitting about 6" lower though ;D
