Fuel gauge not working

Hi

My 1998 td has now decided to tell me my fuel  tank is empty when its not, the symptoms are ,fuel light flashes , range shows either 0 or a few miles. I have had pump out in past to clean  but all looks good.

Can anyone advise ?

the sender n the tank may be warn out lift it out tern eig on and wig it up and dow if it move when it a to then u need a new 1. dont start the engine just turn on!!!.
