gearbox slipping
« on: 24 September 2009, 18:15:09 »

hi just got hold of my new little toy ,yes another omega estate 2.2 2003 auto ,sport ,
the problem is i been using it and noticed the gearbox is slipping when its warm .
if i put it in first ,its ok and drives off ,
but if i put it in ,second ,third or drive it tends to be reving high and seems like slipping ( like if a clutch was going on a manual )
any ideas ,going to check the fluid at the weekend or tomoz if i get time ,
if it is the bands that need replacing how hard is the job ??
i shall take some pics of the car and post  :y

1st check would  be the atf levels with the the car runing ,also if the atf has not  been changed it may just need new gearbox oil and the fillter cleaning.Best done evey 60k or so.

hope that helps  :y :y

You are quite right Mick. It is above the rearmost sump of the two. Held in by three thirteen mm bolts if I remember correctly  :y

i had both sumps off the other day to change my fluid but didnt see any filter in there. could have been all the fluid i dropped over my face when i took them off and being blinded for a few mins lol.

ive been looking into these anti slip fluids you stick in the box to rejuvinate the bands etc  anybody got anything good to say about them?
