Auto box jumping

My auto box has started to jump in 1st, any ideas?

The usual advice is to check the ATF. Needs checking with engine running apparently.

A Carlton estate I used to have had a leak on the auto box, it used to jump and jerk when the fluid dropped too low, once topped up it was fine again.

Was dry as a bone underneath, I reckon it has never been checked before. I did consider that.
