2.6 Exhaust Manifold on 2.5 engine
« on: 15 November 2009, 16:54:48 »

Hi Guys

I'm fitting 2.6 manifolds to my 2.5 as one of a few upgrades.

Am I right in thinking I need to use the 2.6 exhaust manifold gaskets, rather than  2.5 ones?

If so, anyone have the part number for said gaskets please?

The part  I have here is 24416110 - which I believe is the gasket for 2.5 and 3.0 and hence not suitable?

Yes, you need the 2.6/3,2 gaskets....you also need to chop about 5mm off the lip at the top of the front pipe.

Not got a clue about the part number though.

They do flow better and are nicely made!

Yes. I think the lighter manifolds absorb less heat to allow the pre cats to warm up quicker.

Cheers Mark

Do you think the benefits will be noticable? Would it be beneficial to port the exhaust ports at all, or not?

As per the engine basics, exhaust port porting makes little to no difference as the gases are not pumped.....and compared to the restriction of the bog standard manifolds.....

I would not bother, no advantage unless you can get the compression back up.
