update on mi gearbox
« on: 17 November 2009, 16:44:31 »

had a customer intoday who does gearboxes so a favour in turn and he read mi car.it were rainin bad so i only caught a couple of codes one was p0100 others i think were 1740/1780.it brought up torque control errors of expensive components, and somat about mi throttle.havent given you much info there have i but he boiled it down to a fault in the wiring and they dont often but ecu,s can fail.gettin fed up so his company charge £40 p/h so i might let them have a couple of hour on it,wish i had an ecu to try on it first :(

Someone will be along shortly with info on the codes, but can you please read the forum guidelines:

Most important bit  "Use English, no text speak which is notoriously difficult to read."

I found it very hard to read your post, why type "mi"? its spelt "my" is it really that much quicker to use an I?  :-/

0100 relates to faulty MAF (poss. bad connection?) Are you sure the others were 1740 & 1780 not 0740 & 0780 :question

aw mate this is dragging on.

To be honest, its not much help posting up codes that might be correct, important to be clear and concise with there things for the chance of usefull help, also probably will need a skilled tech 2 operator to check, follow up, clear codes, try it, check codes, follow up, clear and so on.

They may not thank me for this, but i would get on to either Mark dtm or The Boy on here and ask them to diagnose. If they cant get to the bottom of it nobody can. It will be a bit of a drive but worth it and its not a mechanical issue with the box so shouldnt do any further damage.

Have you seen your post in general car chat? You have a few replys saying check and clean the selector switch. Would appear the box is randomly dropping into either limp or snow mode.

Hth somehow.

narrowed the codes down to faulty maf 0100 and p1700 pending.works out the p1700 was the transmission in limp mode pending the maf so i replaced the maf and the clouds parted and the lord of all said now work yer little ba@t@rd.low and behold i now have one beatiful smooth working gearbox.peace and goodwill to all (AMEN) ;D :D :)
