Very strange problem with rev gauge
« on: 27 November 2009, 19:21:27 »

Hi,

I have a problem that no one seems to be able to solve.

When I turn the car on the rev gauge flickers and the speedo does not work, this keeps happening until I kill power to the car by unplugging the battery. Then it suddenly works again until about 2-3 start ups and then its back to not working.

Its like something is getting stuck and I have to kill power to get it unstuck, No ABS/TC lights on the dash. Nothing is reported at all. The information display shows all the information its meant to and is picking up the speed of the car.

I have tried changing all fuses but nothing, checked the alternator and its fine.. new battery but still happens.

I am wondering if its a relay getting stuck, but there is no relay that effects the dash.

Also fuel gauge and temp gauge works fine.

This is really confusing me. Anyone know what it possibly could be?

Thanks

Has anybody had a diag tool plugged in to examine the live data rpm signal on the instrument panel?

Any fault codes on the engine?

I live in gosport, nobody would want to live near here :)

If the live data rpm signal was producing crap, any idea what the problem would be?

Thanks
