I've just got four Falken ZE912s at WIM, they couldn't recommend them enough. I figure they wouldn't do that if they were no good.

I am happy overall with mine, ours would be on 16" though, maybe there is a difference with 17" Falkens, which makes them worse  :-/

I know that this has probably been done to death, but I would like your opinions on tyre choice for my 2001 Facelift Estate. It is currently is shod with Marangoni 225/55 R 16 95V, and they will soon require replacing.
My criteria is GRIP ( both wet, and dry), RIDE ( smoothness) LONGEVITY ( I only do around 5K a year), and finally COST ( max £100 per corner fitted).
What would you choose, and why?

Dave,

I have a full set of 225 55 R 16W Dunlop SP Sport Fast Response available that are currently fitted to my 51 plate 2.6 cdx saloon. They have done less than 100 miles. If you're interested feel free to pm me. :y Car is soon to be scrapped (it's a long story)  :'( :'(

I've got ZE912's , good on the motorway but now that they are about 2/3 worn the lateral grip in damp conditions has fallen away. They were great when new and only lightly worn.

I would say the Falkens are a risky choice. Plenty of other tyres to choose from. They certainly aren't the grippiest tyres although they are reasonably quiet. They do wander, though, IMHO.
