Well, its still working, after 24K, so I hope all the negative vibes coming back at me don't cause it to fail. If it does its all your fault >:(

if it is chipped to full power, then you aint got a ar25 in there!!!
it is possible to rebuild the box with ar35internals, as the major difference is only the amount of clutch plates inside, wonder if its been done this way when it was chipped?
have known a brand new or at least it was only 2000miles old  when the car was chipped and it did survive for 3k miles before it gave up the unequal struggle, known 3 or 4 ar25 usually with around a hundred k on them, last less than 200miles
so my opinion is its been done???

Thanks OT, I understand that you are the Oracle on 2.5TD's. All I can tell you is that it was chipped 3 years ago by Jeremy Fearn, the 'chipping' purports to give 170-175 BHP. I can only judge on the difference it made to my car, as I have not driven any other Omega, however, it transformed the performance, and if am not careful, it is very, very, easy to leave rubber on acceleration, I have driven much quicker cars, but the performance now is more than adequate. I am wondering if they beefed up the AR25 boxes towards the end of production of the BMW engined car. :-/

heard good things about Jezza fearns before so have no doubt it is chipped  he has a reputation for quality work , maybe then just maybe the ar 25 is still hanging on, but it certainly holds the record for longevity with a chipped TD, unless it has actually had the original chip remapped to give higher power in the higher revband and not so much lower down which would give the box an easier time? either way well doe and just maybe as you say a spare ar35 would be a wise investment for the future!! :y
