Annoyed cold children
« on: 11 December 2009, 23:19:10 »

They are now moaning, I should not have mentioned my electrically heated seats!

How easy are they to fit to the back?

Depends on the model of car.......

Cars with cloth except Elites had add in heater pads which could be added fairly easily. But Vx don't stock them any more. These were never sold in the UK as heated rears were either standard on the Elites - but never and option on other UK models. But some years ago I added them to my cloth MV6 with special order parts from a Vx dealer.

Cars with leather and cloth Elites have the pads sewn into the leather/fabric facings, so you will need replacement seats basically.

The wiring is easy as the switches just plug into a new bezel, then there is some wiring and relays which plug & clip in under the rear seat to wiring that's already there.

Frankly the best way is to find an Elite that has the same colour seats as yours that's being broken and get the seats from it.

If you want black leather then PM me and I may be able to help in your quest as I have some of the parts and know where you might find the others.

Regards .......... Rob

Couldn't agree more - a heater was an optional extra on my first car!!

It would have been easier for you to have bought an Elite to start with as I did. They have all the bells and whistles fitted that anyone could want. The heated seats are magic too, woul;dn't have a winter without them or AirCon in the summer.
The advice you have been given is the best road for you though.

Yours are cloth seats? No need for heaters. The rears aren't as effective as front ones. Also, only the sides are heated, so the poor kid in the middle seat won't benefit.

If you are set on them, dead easy - replace the rear bench and backs with ones from an Elite being broken (may have to change the fronts to match the pattern), and fit the switches (by rear ciggy lighter) and relays (clip under seats).

I have leather in the MV6, so have had to fit rear heated seats.
