A/C woes
« on: 23 December 2009, 15:14:15 »

Previously I reported that my a/c was blowing warm, ie not working and with possible condenser failure. Well got my car back today with the A/C regassed and the a/c is blowing nice and cold. The dealer said that they could not actually find a leak. Nevertheless they put more tracer dye into the system to see if it leaks again. So I don't know, possibly the condenser might not be defective. But if it was defective any leaks would show up with the dye would it not?

Yup, you can see parts of it, if you pop the bonnet, look in from the front, look below the cooling fans, you should be able to see the bottom of it, they do fail there, they corrode and the bottom rung starts to fall off.

IIC there are only a couple of bolts holding the cooling fans in place, might be worth popping them off to see it more clearly  :)

Some of the dyes require U/V lighting to see the dye "flouresce"  (shine) ... it is tricky to shine a U/V light onto some parts due to other bits geting in the way !!!
