ok at first i thought i was doing something silly like not closing my door properly but it keeps happening but only on certain occasions ie left hand corners with bumps in the road or bumpy road ,the drivers door will open itself but before it does theres an click first like a relay or soleniod operating , it happened 4 times yesterday on my way to bedford 3 times on the a6 once while overtaking at 70 , its drining me mad and is pretty scary when it does go , ive got the door panel off everything is connected and secure , i notice there is some side airbag at the bottom of the door is it due to a sensor please help !!!!!!!!! :-? :-? :-?

I think you're thinking too deep    . The sensor is indeed for the airbag, but your problem will be due to a failed mechanical  door mechanism. 
It's the three Torx headed bolts that are visable on the edge of the door .... obvioulsy there's more to it than just those 3 bolts, but that's where you start.

ok so you reckon its just door mech being fubard'd ok will strip it out tomorrow , guess good idea to disconnect batt as well , then just remove mech and examine ?

It's never a bad idea to disconnect the battery, but you'd be OK as long as you don't turn the ignition on if you have disconnected the pressure switch for the airbag.

My passenger door on my 1994 Omega did that to me while going round a roundabout.

I took the door card off and sprayed plenty of lubricant into every sliding and pivoting part of the door latch and operating mechanism. It was like new after  and I had been thinking that the latch was fubar'd after 15 years & 200,000 miles.

I used spray lubricant intended for mountain bikes (with ptfe in, it dries non sticky & water repellant). Someone is bound to be along shortly with the 'correct' lubricant.

I use 3in1 PTFE lube for stuff like that too, excellent stuff

ok went to halfrauds and bought gt 85 spray removed drivers door mech soaked in gt85 reassembled , hour or so later went to visit the old dear so went via m1 then a46 .
was great until the a46 the door opens again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :-? :-? :-? :-? :-?
