does anyone know how long it takes to burn oil off the engine as i have just changed both rocker cover gaskets and it is smoking still had it ticking over for 10 mins yesterday and 10 mins today but oil still remains smoking

Would be worth a good squirt of carb cleaner (cool engine, not running) to wash most of the oil crud off the block/exhaust pipe before re starting.

You sure you got the leak sealed??

it feels dry round the sides of the gasket but the side that is smoking is the passenger side and cant even pull the ht leads to check for leaks

The passenger side one is the difficult one, its easy to catch the half moons at the back so they don't seat properly :(

It can take weeks for the oil to burn off fully....it all depends how much it gets driven

i had that prob on a calibra     i used brake cleaner and worked a treat     hope this helps  :y
