Sorry another tyre thread - I know there have been many before but I couldnt find anything useful with search - probably user error.

Can anyone point me to a thread that discusses the various options ? I'm not going the falken route again , conti sport 3's were mentioned in another thread, but they are the most expensive - looking for other recommendations somewhere in the middle price wise and I know there are threads out there that can help

Falken? Tried them and they were pure crap cos the roadholding was erratic at best and useless in any wet at all. Didn't give them a chance in snow after the 'wet' experience! Never had so much understeer!
Having tried all sorts of tryes over the years I have not looked back since I started to use Michellin Pilot Primacy's.
Not the most expensive and not exactly the cheapest but certainbly worth the money for the confidence and decent mileage they give. Ride is good, and not noisy either.
I'm on my 5th set now.
If you are shortish cashwise you can always try some of the tyre shops who recycle, provided that you make sure they are reputable. My m8 only buys from a particular one here and has never had any problems for many years. He uses the same type as me and for a 50% wear generally pays about 30 notes each fully fitted and balanced. That ain't bad for a quality part worn tyre considering the miles Pilot Primacy's do.

I fitted accelera alpha all round to replace the P7s I had worn out. They were under 1/2 the price of the P7s and so far (3000 miles) are every bit as good. The car was great fun in the snow, seemed very grippy underbraking and lets you slide and control the back end. Never suddenly broke away, gave me great confidence to hang the back out. The only time I would say they weren't quite as good as the P7 was when first pulling away in the wet, but are fine once you have warmed them up.
