Yeah thats a fair coment,i was a bit taken back when they said give it the 100 miles learning curve, but all i can do is try it,as for the maf sensor, would it not be the same now if it was the maff sensor ?, the car would only start wih the throttle housing poteniometer disconnected.

Which would put it into a limp mode with default map....again pretty much proving the ecu ws doing as it should.

If you ever suspect ecu failure, you send them for testing, you never fit new

There has been a member on here who could not get his codes read due to a certain part of the interior of the car causing  it not to communicate.  I know very little of electronics and how they work, but it may have been another part of your car causing the pedal trick not to work.  If you have done the pedal trick lately it would interesting to see if there are any stored  codes in the ecu.

And a new ecu to run the car well from new (within seconds), fine tuning itself constantly from that point onwards.  To be honest, after a mile or 2, it should be nigh on perfect.

ECU failures on those engines are virtually unheard of, I wouldn't be surprised if your old ecu was perfect!
