Facelift door cards. Do they have to come off to remove the wood infills :)

Just had door card off. It seems only way to remove wood infill is to cut the backs of the plastic rivets :-/

when I was a trimmer, we'd use a 12mm drill to drill the backs off those plastic rivet things. This leaves the rivet which is hollow and can be reused.
By replacing the melted part that you have just drilled off with a No.8 X 3/8 inch (1/2 inch max) long large headed screw (couple of quid for a bagful at B&Q).
Careful as you use the screws - feel the other side in case the screw is a little long, and if you feel owt untoward, simply remove the screw and stick a washer under the head before trying again.

Hope this helps! ;)

Well they're not exactly rivets - they're part of the plastic trim moulding.
Same on many cars these days. ;)
