Been fiddling with car all day with welung666s kind help-seems like rattling is.............the rear boot-lid  ;D

If we adjust the adjusters on the bootlid or on the hinges we can adjust the noise......hopefully can get rid of it with a bit of playing about..... :y

a thought, had to remove the polystirene insert between plastic bumper and metal bumper cross member on mine due to positioning the lpg fuel filler behind the number plate. This has resulted in some rattling over speed bumps, and when shutting the boot lid. Wonder if yours still has the polystirene fitted...? just a thought...

Was going to point out the obvious and say a socket/locking wheel adaptor has maybe fallen into the spare wheel well.

As for the auto gearstick rattling over uneven surface - mine does that and it's bloody annoying! it seems to be the little pull-up lever that sits on the front of the gearstick - Anyone any ideas on what is causing that rattle??

Being attached to the gear box/engine/drive train it will pick up engine vibes and movement, just will. The shift lever i use a bit of silicin grease or spray, not to lube it but to give enough stick to stop it rattling. My old 2.5 did it after about 120k

Gear selector does not rattle in mine, but you do feel the vibes and movement of the road outside if you put hand on it while driving along...

Rattle much quieter today after bootlid fiddling; not entirely gone, but much better.

Thanks for wheel well tip-had emptied the entire boot, wheel well and car interior first to search for rattle-one was stuff in NSF door pocket, one was baby seat seatbelts, one was passenger seatbelt holster against centre console, another keyring against steering column, another was sunvisor etc etc etc.

TIme for OCD rehab  ;D ;D

I am right there with you on the OCD thing - I hate a rattle in any car so I can understand the frustration!

Which reminds me of a rattle I had in the back of mine - you have got the jack secured properly haven't you?  this is nearer the boot lid  ::)

And cheers for the silicone and gearbox mount tips - I shall mention it next time it'sin the garage :)
