Fitting Heated & Electric Seats
« on: 28 January 2010, 12:50:30 »

Hi again folks,

How difficult is it to fit electrically heated, & fully electrically adjustable seats into a facelift that has no heated seats, and the only electric adjustment is the height of the seat base?

Not bothered about the memory function on full electric, as it's me who drives it 95% of the time anyway.

Cheers  :y

I can give a partial answer;
The 2001 Red 3.2 ex police Omega I have had no heated seats and were the cloth, not velour one's.
I simply removed the cloth one's and put the velour one's in, and put the heated seat switches in the dash...and that was that. Heated part of it works, however...they were not fully electric just the usual height adjustment.
So unfortunately, I can only help with the heated seat bit, plug the seat in, put the switches in the dash and it's as simple as that  :y
I do know fully electric seta can be added, I'll see if I can find a post about it somewhere.

Cheers Josh  :y

I know that quite a bit on the later facelift's is usually plug-and-play, but didn't know if the seats were or not.  Is there one multiplug under the seat that plugs into the car that controls the electric height adjustment, heater element, and side airbag I take it?

It would be interesting to hear about wiring in the full electric seats.  In my mind, it shouldn't bee too difficult, as there's already a 12v feed going to the existing seats for the current height adjuster.  Especially seeing as I'm not bothered about the memory function.  But, I suspect I'm probably taking a simplistic view of things...   :-/

I think there are 4 or 5 plugs all held together in a plastic clamp thing, unplugged them all and that was it. So, disconnect battery for an hour first and wrap the battery connecter thing you disconnect in something to ensure it can't come in contact with the battery terminal.
Before, raise the seat to it's highest position to make it easier to remove.
Simply then unplug all the plugs (under plastic cover between sill and seat) and use a t40 torx to undo the bolts holding the seat runners in...then remove.

Here`s the link for wiring the seats, and I have both switches for the seats if needed :y http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1234703022

Face lift seats into a face lift car as follows, passenger side straight swap,  Drivers side there is some wiring differences as there are feeds out to the memory mirrors etc but they will fit with all functions working if time is taken with a multi meter. Pre face lift into face lift is as above but with one exception, the heated seats are fed from an on/off switch in the pre face lifts but from a variable switch in the face lifts, if wired up they cannot be turned off, the only answer to this iirc is, in the heated facelift seats there is a control box buried in the foam of the seat squab which works in conjunction with the variable switch on the dash, this has to be removed and wired into the pre face lift seats wiring, it is a pita.
