URGENT: Help needed please guys!
« on: 06 February 2010, 14:52:28 »

Can anyone give me a helping hand? I am trying to renew my cyl. head gasket. I have the belts, cam cover and plugs removed, together with all the elec. connectors & alternator braces. How do I remove the wiring harness carrier attached to the inlet manifold injectors & the injector rail itself? I am stood here freezing my balls off so any help would be MOST appreciated LOL. ;D :y

Injector rail held on with 2 (IIRC) bolts one either end. Lean on driver`s wing and look at rail, should be able to spot `em

with the cam top off you should see the plug clips for the injectors with flat head push clips at one end first and lif a bit at same time, should all come off then. :y

Hiya rustym95, nice of you to answer mate. are there clips on each injector? I found & removed two 'L' shaped clips on injectors for cyl 1 (rad end) and cyl 4 ((third one back, i.e.: firing order 1342) but it still wont move. (I hope this makes sense mate LOL) :y

As rusty seems to be offline, I'll try to help.

On the 2.0, there is certainly one retaining clip on each injector connector.  They come off towards the head, which makes it fiddly, but do-able.

Never seen a 2.2, so can't say for sure that they have the same arrangement.

You're welcome.  I can't remember whether I removed the wiring tray before or after getting the inlet manifold off the head, possibly after, which will make access to the retaining clips much easier.

Downside is that access to the inlet manifold nuts isn't plain-sailing with the wiring tray in place.  ::)

if the nuts are off the wire box and cover should wiggle about if not look and see if some one has put tie backs on it some were as should wiggle about, and push the clips in like said and should come off. :y

Phil. when I took the head of my 2.0 breaker to remove the injector rail it was as i said earlier, just the two bolts and a bit of pulling and off it came should be the same on a 2.2. As for the wiring box, I left it on then removed the throttle body to gain access to the inlet manifold bolts/studs, all pretty much straightforward except the last one at the bulkhead end & on that one I just used a small extension. HTH
