Auto gear lever
« on: 09 February 2010, 17:48:32 »

Does anyone else find that after starting it is sometimes difficult to move the gear lever from park? I often have to release the brake pedal, and then try again, often 2 or 3 times. This is more likely to occur when starting from cold.

TIA :y

Is it stiff or is the lever lock actuator shot?

Lift up the gaiter cover and see if the locking tab to the left of the base of the stick activates with the brake pedal.

Mine was too, but we cleaned the brake pedal switch with switch cleaner and lubricated the actuator.

Now works fine  :y :y

Thanks, it is as if it is locked solid until it does release, and is then perfectly normal. Are these items also under the gaiter?

Brake pedal switch is above the brake pedal. I fitted a new one when I had this problem.
