Speedo has stopped working and steering heavy...
« on: 28 February 2010, 19:11:44 »

I was just thinking the other day that my Omega is running great and had no issues - then today while driving my speedo starts flicking from 60mph to zero - then it was fine for 5 mins then it just dropped to zero and there it stayed - also the steering is heavy all the time now.  It's the ABS ECU I am thinking (after having changed one on my old 2.5 Elite) but the lights on the dash are not on and yes they light up when the ignition goes on - what else could it be??....any ideas appreciated.

Check and clean abs sensor on rear axle (passenger side one if i remember correctly) - if not could be the start of abs ecu dying  :(

Thank you gents - checked the fuse and that seems ok - will check the abs sensor in the week.

I thought that the ABS fault only affected models built from around 1998 to 2000, has any other members with the later cars had the ABS ECU fail or am I just being overly optomistic??

:)

Hi all.
Joined this forum as I'm having similar problems.
A separate search indicated a speed sensor issue.
Any ideas on this?
