Oil cooler change
« on: 04 March 2010, 12:12:37 »

Just finished renewing oil cooler, using the great guides posted here. Fantastic.  Would add a couple of points for other users contemplating this repair.

Due to the large amount of oil that gets into the cooling system, when you are down at the replacement of oil cooler level, flush out the heater hoses then, as it is much more difficult when the manifolds are replaced. I didn't and had problems with heating and high temp.

I also decided to replace the thermostat, and the 'o' rings on the link pipe. Problem! Leaking from the joint. Have had to replace with new link pipe (tackling the 'b' bold yet again)!!. Thought I would save a few pounds, but not to be.

Re the cooling system, I had to flush around 10 times to get everything out!!

Hope this helps someone.
