weld td flywheel??
« on: 05 March 2010, 22:29:17 »

my flywheel sounds like two dinner plates hitting together. I've heard of people welding them solid, is this a good or bad idea?

I would say BAD IDEA..
You will not get them balanced if you weld them and you will get a bad vibration :-(

I'm with Simon. And even if you did manage to get it exactly balanced ..... you'd lose the damper effect of the dual mass flywheel. Cars that are built at the factory with a solid flywheel also have a sprung clutch plate.
