Not worth aggro, just fix the head gasket (if it's not, in fact, an oil cooler failure)

Never seen a 2.6 HG go due to their construction.

pretty sure it is the hg.it did start but not now.when you turn it over pressure shoots straight out of the expansion tank.radiator has hole on it which would point to killing the hg...bought it for a good price so no complaints from me.lol.

As said, 2.6 problem is most likely oil cooler so not a major problem.

A 3.2 will drop straight in, however. Same engine apart from capacity. All ancillaries identical. ECU may even be the same (2.5 / 3.0 are IIRC).

If it's an auto the gearbox will be an AR25 so it might not take kindly to the increased torque output of the 3.2.

As you said yourself... compression test would be my suggestion.

Compression test would not tell you much with respect to head gasket issues....any sign of mayo in the header tank.

If it blows out of the header tank when cranking then that sounds like a spectacular HG failure to me me. Compression test probably will be conclusive (if you don't mind filling your gauge with water/coolant  ;))

if your fitting a 3.0l/3.2 into a 2.6 you will need the ar35 to handle the extra toruqe. and unlike what a lot of peeps say the engine/box can be removed as 1 lump as long as you take both rads out. :y
