Today I started my cambelt and thermostat change, and came across an obvious fault that has possibly been there since I got Miggy. When I came to remove the multi ram unit there's what I think is an ECU current operated diverter valve, to control the vacuum operated multi ram throttle control. The query I have is as the vacuum supply pipe was disconnected (the rubber connector sleeve wasn't present)So no vacuum supply. This means I think that the ECU has been unable to operate the multi ram system. So my big question is. Why no TCs?? Or is this a fault not covered by TCs. There is also possible faults caused by low vacuum in the rest of the vacuum system. I hope I've managed to explain it OK.Anyhow looks as if I can look forward to some improved performance levels.Just need a rubber connector sleeve or elbow.
The lack of TC's is an easy one to answer.
The ECU is an electrical device and it can sense the presence of the electrical part of the solenoid which I guess is all ok.
To sense the lack of vac due to a split pipe would require further pressure sensors, wires, connectors etc which adds cost and unnecessary complexity.
