Power steering problem?
« on: 11 March 2010, 09:44:03 »

Seem to have intermittant problem where the steering literally goes while car is stationary, if you flick the revs to 900/1000 the steering comes back to life.

steering pump?

I'm sure you'd be able to get one from one of the breakers here for reasonable money. They're not hard to fit.  ;)

Will do, it was all fine today, but every other day it completely goes till you flick the accelerator.

Is that an easy job too? never done it

Pretty easy....drain the tank and disconnect the return pipe.....put the return pipe in a vessel and fill the tank with new fluid.

Start the engine and keep topping the tank up until you see clean fuild exit the return tube.

I suspect that the lazy pumps are down to sticking vanes in the pump.....hopefuly new oil (run over some miles) should clean it out and un-stick them
