Depends where in the system it is, sometimes it's a gas (in the compressor) and others it's a liqued (in the evaporator) and in other bit's it's going from a gas to a liqued in the ...... condensor  :y  :y

A/C specialist usually put a green/yellow dye in so you can see if owt's leaked. You can't easily miss the colour of the dye.

Kwik fit did it the last time and after speaking to them they say they dont use a dye  :-/
