MOT repairs...
« on: 23 March 2010, 16:26:15 »

Hi all, Just took my miggy in for the MOT, it failed, only on a few bits, RBT front brake imbalance 36%, ??? anybody know if this is easy to correct, and how?
Secondly, it has failed on
O/S Front coil spring (The bloke broke it)
N/S coil spring (The bloke broke that one too)
Front brake discs excessively pitted.
Does anybody on here have, or know where the best place to get these as cheaply as poss? as pennies are a bit tight at the moment.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance as always

Brake imbalance is normally a siezed caliper. Just free it off.

Springs, get a full set of 4 from a breaker, try Darth Loo-Knee as he's only up the road in Stoke.

Same with the discs, get a second hand one for cheapness :y

Get a Trade card through Autobahnstormers for £20 .. you can then get a complete front disc/pads replacement kit for £80 + vat instead of £110 + vat

springs are around £130 + VAT  instead of £220 + VAT - prices for springs are majorly different depending on actual car specification

so will save you loads .. :)

How the hell did he manage that. He breaks `em then has the cheek to give you a fail on `em

Well the Miggy has been static since last June  :(, so I guess they'd perished somehow... didn't expect two springs to go exactly at the same though to be honest  :-?  Been driving a 1.2 corsa since then... (Not out of choice cuz I hate everything about it) ... it was better than sex getting back in the Omega this morning...
