Can anyone tell me in simple terms how I add a photo to my profile?

use photobucket or imageshack or someother online photo host .. :)

For an avatar the picture needs to be a MAXIMUM of 110 x 110 pixels  :)

Once on the "host" site you simply put a link to the picture in your control panel .. which you get to by clicking "User CP" at the top of every page .. :)
